👑 Weekly AI Edge #48: Teneo & Sahara AI

A look into Teneo Protocol. Sahara AI launches their public testnet.

GM !

Greg Osuri, founder of Akash Network, just suited up and testified before Congress. We got to say, he looks spiffy.

His message? AI’s energy demands are skyrocketing, and the U.S. grid isn’t ready. By 2028, AI could be pulling 12% of the country’s electricity.

Meanwhile, power capacity isn’t scaling fast enough, and China’s not waiting around. DeepSeek is already nipping at OpenAI’s heels.

Greg’s take: forget hyperscale data centers. We need distributed compute: local nodes powered by renewables, idle hardware, and edge sources like schools, homes, and microgrids. It’s cheaper, faster to deploy, and way more resilient.

He pressed Congress to get serious: support decentralized infrastructure, fund distributed R&D, unlock public land for energy innovation, and invest in flexible clean power.

We’re with him. If the U.S. wants to lead in AI, it has to rethink what’s powering it.

Just a heads up: 30 days of COT is still going strong. We’ve dropped 3 reports so far, and we’re not even halfway there. More coming soon, stay locked in.

Here’s what’s buzzing this week:

💸 Distribute AI’s DIS token is live, and airdrop allocations are available to check.

🌍 World Foundation raised $135M from a16z and Bain Capital Crypto via a direct WLD purchase to scale the real human network.

🧬 Giza’s TGE and Season 1 airdrop is live, with 13.8M GIZA sent to 15,882 contributors. It launched at a $100M FDV, now trading near $50M after early liquidity and MM issues. Giza is a protocol for agents executing DeFi yield strategies.

Markets are heating up. Bitcoin smashed through all-time highs with a 6% gain on the week, but has corrected slightly since.

The bigger story is sentiment. Bitcoin just hit a 12-month high in bullish momentum, and it’s spilling into the rest of the market (see below chart)

AI tokens are riding that wave. FARTCOIN led the charge with a 24% gain and $13.42 million in net inflows. VIRTUAL jumped 17% with $3.79 million in fresh capital.

The inflows tell a story: confidence is coming back, and AI-aligned tokens are getting the early bid..

🌐 A Look Into Teneo Protocol

Teneo Protocol (part of the peaq DePin ecosystem) is quietly building an alternative to corporate social data mining, backed by over 6 million autonomous AI agents operating across 191 countries.

These agents, known as Community Nodes, run as lightweight browser extensions. They act like real users, browsing platforms like X, TikTok, and Reddit to fetch and verify public content. They skip the usual API limitations and scraping tricks.

In return, users who operate these nodes earn Teneo Points, which can later be redeemed for TENEO tokens.

The system only indexes publicly visible content—posts, comments, and trending topics. No private messages, no likes, no personal data.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Community Nodes: browser-based agents that gather and cross-check public data

  • Validator Nodes: ensure accuracy and filter noise

  • Balancer Nodes: manage routing and load distribution across the network

Teneo competes with projects like Grass, Gradient, and Dawn, but its core value is transparency and data attribution.

In short: Teneo is aiming to turn everyday digital activity into a decentralized public good.

☀️ Sahara AI Launches Their Public Testnet

Sahara AI is now live with SIWA, a public testnet built to give data contributors something they’ve seldom had before: proof, credit, and the chance to get paid.

(You can start uploading datasets here)

AI models run on massive datasets, but the people generating that data usually get left out. SIWA changes that by letting users register their datasets on-chain and claim ownership.

During their private testnet:

  • 📈 3.2M+ accounts made at least one on-chain transaction

  • 🔥 1.4M+ daily active users

  • 🧠 200K+ people engaged with Sahara’s Data Services Platform

So how does SIWA work?

You upload a dataset, like a .csv or .json file. It’s logged in a global on-chain registry and minted as an ERC-721 NFT. That creates a permanent, timestamped record tied to your wallet, proving you were the source.

This record becomes the foundation for tracing how data moves through the AI ecosystem.

Future testnet phases will roll out licensing, automated revenue sharing, and attribution. Contributors will be able to earn royalties, and see exactly where their data ends up.

More than 40 partners are already involved, including AWS, Google Cloud, UC Berkeley, and Together AI, along with early collaborators like Microsoft, Snap, and MIT.

The mission is simple: if your data trains AI, you should be able to prove it and get rewarded.
