Phala Hits 30K+ Daily TEE Attestations. Billions Private Testnet Launches.

GM

We made it. One full year of Weekly AI Edge!

Since the 1st edition of our AI & Crypto newsletter was published on 11 June 2024, we’ve been breaking down the madness so you don’t have to live inside Arxiv or scroll Twitter/X until your eyes bleed.

We still believe this is the biggest tech shift of our lifetime. It’s chaotic, it’s fast, and if you’re not neck-deep in it, it’s easy to miss what’s really happening.

So, a big thank you for riding with us. We’re just getting started, and we’re sticking around. 🫶

In other news: Zuck just made his boldest AI move yet, and he’s bringing in a 28-year-old billionaire to help pull it off.

After years of mid-tier product launches (did someone say Llama 4?) and top talent walking out the door, Meta’s been lagging in the AI arms race.

Now Zuckerberg is hitting the gas. He’s assembling a 50-person strike team with one mission: build AI that can outthink humans in memory, reasoning, and decision-making.

And he’s not phoning this in. Zuck is personally hosting interviews and pitch sessions at his homes in Palo Alto and Lake Tahoe, offering researchers life-changing checks (7-9 figs) to join the squad.

Front and center is Alexandr Wang, the founder of Scale AI. Meta just bought 49 percent of Scale for $14.3 billion (non-voting), pulling Wang and his inner circle into this new division.

Scale isn’t just any AI company. They’re the quiet powerhouse behind OpenAI, Anthropic, and others, refining the data that trains their most advanced models.

With this move, Meta doesn’t just get better data. They get the blueprint for how the top models in the world are built.

Twelve months ago, we didn’t have “Nasdaq companies going full degen for TAO” on our bingo card. But here we are…

Synaptogenix (SNPX) just pulled a MicroStrategy move for Bittensor. The stock jumped 40 percent after announcing a $10 million TAO buy, which is more than twice its own market cap. They plan to scale that to $100 million.

James Altucher is leading the charge, staking for yield and betting on long-term upside. He’s also investing personally, dropping $5.5 million through preferred stock and TAO-linked warrants. A full rebrand and ticker change are already in motion.

Oblong (OBLG), a network software company, is getting in too. It’s raising $7.5 million to stack TAO and back Subnet 0. The market responded with a 12% bump.

Their thesis is simple. TAO is the native asset for decentralized intelligence. Scarce, programmable, and productive.

We expect more will follow this playbook. It’s the first volley in a public market race to corner crypto AI infrastructure.

🤖 Phala Hits 30K+ Daily TEE Attestations

Phala Network is quietly becoming the backbone of decentralized confidential compute. It’s now handling over 30,000 secure compute requests daily, each powered by Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs).

At the core is Phala Cloud, launched in early 2025. Think of it as a privacy-first alternative to AWS. Developers can deploy Dockerized apps directly into TEEs, skipping the surveillance capitalism of centralized clouds.

Setup is streamlined through Dstack, a toolkit that wraps Docker containers in secure virtual machines. It handles encryption, attestation, and portability without requiring DevOps acrobatics.

Developers building private agents or zero-knowledge oracles can use Phat Contracts. These run off-chain logic while securely interfacing with blockchains. Gasless execution, AI compatibility, and privacy guarantees make them ideal for intelligent agent apps.

Underneath it all is a DePIN architecture: a global fleet of worker nodes that provide compute and earn PHA. That same PHA token governs staking and DAO coordination.

The goal is simple: a censorship-resistant compute layer for the AI x crypto stack that replaces trust with math.

🌐 Billions Private Testnet Launches

Billions just dropped its private testnet. Built by the team behind Privado ID, this new identity layer skips biometrics and custom hardware entirely.

If the idea of Sam Altman owning your irises makes you twitch, you’re in luck. This has no retina scans or metallic orbs. Just your passport and a phone.

You verify once, privately. The whole thing runs on zero-knowledge proofs, so your data never touches the chain, only the cryptographic receipts that you passed verification or updated a credential.

What makes Billions stand out is its dual-native design: humans and AI agents both get verified. That means agents can prove where their training data came from, verify they’re playing by the rules, and link to trusted ecosystems. It’s a common trust layer for people and code.

Under the hood, it’s built on Circom tech, the same ZK tooling that powers much of the current zkStack. It’s already plugged into Telefónica, Kaleido, and SettleMint infra, and getting field-tested by Polygon, Aurora, and Camp Network.

Project Updates

  • Nillion’s new Enterprise Cluster is live, with Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, Alibaba Cloud, and stc Bahrain on board. The goal is to bring blind compute to enterprise data and push toward a privacy-native internet.

  • TRNR, a NASDAQ-listed company focused on fitness equipment, is raising $500M to load up on $FET and build the biggest AI-token crypto treasury on a US exchange. Backed by ATW and DWF Labs.

  • USD.AI has entered private beta with $10M in partner deposits. They’re testing a yield model pegged to tokenized Treasuries and AI assets like GPUs.

  • Pond dropped AI Studio and Pond Markets, a platform built to help early AI projects ship, grow, and get funded in one place. It’s tailored for builders and early believers.

  • Circle has launched native USDC and CCTP V2 on World Chain, enabling fast, low-cost transfers for over 27M users and replacing bridged USDC.

  • peaq and Pulsar just fired up the Machine Economy Free Zone in the UAE—a live sandbox for AI-powered machines and decentralized infra pilots.

  • DKING is deploying $300M through a new partnership with a top sports-betting hedge fund. It’s the first institutional betting strategy powered entirely on-chain, running on its DeFAI system.

  • Crucible Labs launched Smart Allocator, a tool that auto-stakes TAO into top subnets by price. It’s built for passive holders who want Bittensor yield without managing the mess.

  • TaoFi just lit up the first Solana-to-Bittensor USDC bridge. Powered by Hyperlane, it unlocks Bittensor DeFi access from Solana, Base, and Ethereum. It’s live now at taofi.com/bridge.

  • Theoriq introduced Theo Roo, an AI strategist baked into its agentic finance stack. Theo coordinates on-chain moves and highlights alpha in real time, keeping things efficient and degens-friendly.

  • Allora kicked off a six-week Agent Accelerator. Top agents will earn $ALLO grants based on usage, traction, and integrations. Cohort 1 is about to get rolling.

  • Arma is now integrated into Rainbow Wallet, letting users track its autonomous yield strategies straight from the wallet.

  • Arbus Terminal is now live, giving stakers of 100,000+ $ARBUS early access to AI-powered research tools and real-time Web3 insights.

  • ChainGPT just launched AgenticOS, an open-source AI that posts crypto insights on X using live on-chain data. It’s made for Web3 teams who want programmable social agents.

Web2 AI

  • Mistral AI just rolled out Magistral, a multilingual reasoning model tuned for domain-specific tasks with transparent outputs.

  • xAI and Polymarket are teaming up to fuse Grok’s AI brain with real-time prediction markets. Big W for crypto. Word on the street is people are already “farming” Polymarket activity in case a token drops.

  • OpenAI has shipped o3-pro, the new default model for ChatGPT Pro users. It brings sharper outputs, better tools, and upgrades across coding, data, and writing. o1-pro is officially retired. 🫡

  • Yutori unveiled Scouts, AI agents that scour the internet for personalized alerts: from obscure news to flight deals and hard-to-get reservations. Beta signups are live at yutori.com.

  • Krea has entered the image model race with Krea 1, now in private beta. It’s built to ditch the generic AI aesthetic, offering sharp textures, rich style control, and artist-grade output.

We’ve been cooking up the spiciest takes at the edge of Crypto x AI.
